2010-2012<\/strong>

A reflection on portraiture and human interaction. In 2010<\/a>, I approached a stranger every day and asked them to take a self portrait. With no guidance or assistance, they would decide how they wished to capture themselves. What would they share? What would they hide? Would their surroundings come into play? I dotted myself with the task of shooting my own self-portrait as well. Diptichs mapping encounters and reflections on travel and life.<\/p>\n

In 2011<\/a>, though the fatigue of approaching hundreds of strangers wore thin on my spirits, I ached for continued interactions and to capture strangers how I saw them. Stripped of daily obligations I allowed organic encounters to shape how the project developped. Once they took their portrait, I too would take theirs. Allowing myself to attempt to capture the essence of what drew me to them in the first place.<\/p>\n

In 2012<\/a>, I had renewed the challenge of daily stranger hunts but the project came to an abrupt end in May when I lost access to my gear. A spinoff of the project lived on in Jaclyn Turner<\/a>‘s aportraiteveryday.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n
